How Porcelain Veneers Transform a Smile

Patients who wish to correct imperfections in their smile, or those who would like to create an entirely new smile for themselves can turn to porcelain veneers as a cosmetic treatment option. Veneers are thin ceramic dental restorations that are placed on the surface of the teeth, hiding any discoloration, chips, or cracks. They can also be used to close gaps in the teeth or eliminate the look of overcrowding. Some patients even opt to receive porcelain veneers to gain a straight smile, rather than undergoing the longer and more painful process of traditional orthodontics. Because veneers can be colored to match the rest of your smile, they mimic the look of natural teeth, and aren’t noticeable to others. Porcelain veneers are a patient’s best kept secret.

Convenient Placement of Porcelain Veneers

Dr. Kilimizoglou is able to fit and place veneers in two easy office visits. During the first visit, Dr. K will discuss your cosmetic goals and devise a treatment plan to suit your needs. He will then prep the teeth, and using molding to create a detailed impression of the mouth. These impressions will be sent to a lab where the porcelain veneers will be created using the highest quality porcelain available. During the time that the veneers are being fabricated, you will be fitted with a natural-looking, temporary restoration. Once the veneers have been created, typically in about two weeks, patients can return to Dr. Kilimitzoglou’s Smithtown office to have them bonded. Dr. K will then make any necessary changes to be sure that the veneers fit properly, and look and feel just like your natural teeth.
